What the Heck is Reiki?!

Reiki uses universal healing energy. It will flow through your chakra points (you have seven major ones starting at the base of your spine and going upwards to the crown of your head. Each one has a specific color and function ) it goes through and heals the affected parts of your energy field and charges them with positive energy. (Everything is made up of energy) reiki comes down through the top of my crown chakra (head) and out through my hands to where I want it to go. Including over a distance to whom I focus on. Reiki feels like warm sunshine when you receive it. Sometimes you may feel a pulsing sensation or a swirling sensation of energy. These are effected areas that are getting more reiki. It treats the person's body, emotions, mind and spirit as a whole. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It’s not harmful in anyway. Sometimes it will take more than one session to feel a huge difference. Some things take longer and more Reiki to heal than others. Every experience is different. I tell people to pretend they are like a sponge. A sponge is very porous and soaks up very easily. When you start the session, relax and be the sponge! Hahah. Reiki will flow through you very easily and run out the negative energy as if the sponge were being squeezed. No longer the dirty, weighted down sponge, you are left lifted and refreshed. Reiki can also be sent to your pets and plants! I absolutely love animals and plants! -Kristina

Definition

Reiki is a form of therapy that uses simple hands-on, no-touch, and visualization techniques, with the goal of improving the flow of life energy in a person. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means "universal life energy" in Japanese, and Reiki practitioners are trained to detect and alleviate problems of energy flow on the physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Reiki touch therapy is used in much the same way to achieve similar effects that traditional massage therapy is used—to relieve stress and pain, and to improve the symptoms of various health conditions.

Purpose

Reiki claims to provide many of the same benefits as traditional massage therapy, such as reducing stress, stimulating the immune system, increasing energy, and relieving the pain and symptoms of health conditions. Practitioners have reported success in helping patients with acute and chronic illnesses, from asthma and arthritis to trauma and recovery from surgery. Reiki is a gentle and safe technique, and has been used successfully in some hospitals. It has been found to be very calming and reassuring for those suffering from severe or fatal conditions. Reiki can been used by doctors, nurses, psychologists and other health professionals to bring touch and deeper caring into their healing practices.
